A Prayer for Those Who Need Help

When the Ethiopians came out against Judah with 1,000,000 men and 300 chariots, here is what King Asa prayed: “Yahweh, there is no one besides You to help in the battle between the powerful and those who have no strength; so help us, O Yahweh our God, for we trust in You, and in Your name have come against this multitude. O Yahweh, You are our God; let not man prevail against You.”

Here is a wonderful picture of prayer: acknowledgment of our weakness and God’s strength; a cry for help; a declaration of allegiance; remembrance of the covenant; consideration of circumstances in relation ultimately to God.
