Sweet Caroline

Well, Caroline arrived this morning at 11:30 a.m., weighing in at 8 lbs., and 4 oz. She is a beautiful little girl with a head full of black (curly?) hair. Daniel, Laura, and Beth Ann were so excited to come in and hold her. Mommy is recovering right now (3:00 p.m.) while Caroline takes a nap in the nursery; the doctor just came by and said everything looks great with Caroline. We’ll probably be coming home Friday afternoon, Lord willing. (I might be spending the night at home tonight – the sofabed last night was probably the most comfortable “daddy” hospital bed I’ve slept in, but the chair/bed in our post-partum room just doesn’t look as promising.)

Thanks for your prayers! God is good. “Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman keeps awake in vain. 2 It is vain for you to rise up early, To retire late, To eat the bread of painful labors; For He gives to His beloved even in his sleep. 3 Behold, children are a gift of the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward. 4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth. 5 How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them; They will not be ashamed When they speak with their enemies in the gate.”  (Psalm 127)

Now for some pictures…

And here’s a picture of Caroline! (I know, it looks like she’s been in a prize fight – I’ll have better pictures on here tomorrow, so sign up to receive this blog in your email inbox and her beautiful face will be waiting for you the next morning.)

Congratulations on your new covenant child!

Trust me, the chairs in those rooms do not make for good beds. I slept on them after the births of both of my girls, but the excitement of a new baby was always so overwhelming that I didn’t mind.

    Talk to you soon.
