White as Snow

Well, our internet is still down. Charter says that it’s a problem with the underground line, and that with the snow we’ve had, it has weakened the line even more. A mole or something probably chewed through the line. Right now I am sitting out on my front porch, borrowing our RUF campus minister’s internet. I didn’t realize it would reach this far, or I would have been posting all this time.

There is still so much snow, it’s a beautiful sight. While writing my Pastor’s Corner tonight, I was reflecting on how snow turns black as it ages – yet the whiteness of the righteousness of Christ never fades in glory and splendor. It glistens like the snow in the sunlight. God sees us as white and pristine in Christ, in spite of all our sin and foolishness and pride. Though our sins are as scarlet, they will be as white as snow (Isaiah 1:18 and Ps. 51:7). I pray that you will have grace today to know that if you are trusting in Christ, you are as beautiful in God’s sight as freshly fallen snow. His grace never changes; His love for you is eternal! If you feel like black snow today, look to the righteousness of Christ anew and rejoice in your Savior.

Ezra

Finally a new post! This is very encouraging, thanks Caleb. We need to constantly remind ourselves of His grace, and let that guide us rather than performance.

Okay, we were discussing “white as snow” this past weekend…did it snow in the Bible? Was snow a part of life in the Middle East back then…enough so that the image “white as snow” would have been one that the prophets’ knew? Maybe that is a dumb question, but Daniel and I didn’t know the answer…
