Nominating Committee

I’m in Atlanta tonight (Friday) and tomorrow, serving on the Nominating Committee of the Presbyterian Church in America. Each presbytery submits names of ruling elders or teaching elders to serve on the permanent committees and agencies of the PCA (Administrative Committee, Mission to the World, Mission to North America, Reformed University Ministries, Christian Education and Publication, Ridgehaven, Covenant College, Covenant Theological Seminary, Retirement and Benefits Inc., PCA Foundation, Interchurch Relations, Theological Examining Committee, etc.). Only a couple of men can be elected each year, so the Nominating Committee takes the names submitted and votes on which ones will be recommended for election by the General Assembly (which meets each summer). The GA is able to make additional nominations from the floor, but it’s usually the case that the nominees from the Nominating Committee prevail, because Presbyterians usually trust their committees. Therefore, the work we’re doing tomorrow is important work for the future well-being of the church. Please pray that we choose wisely.

SDG,
Ezra
