I watched the video, and as a father of two young boys, it leaves me with a lot of questions. Do I allow my children to use the internet? Own cell phones? If I don’t, do I want them to be behind technologically? How do you balance raising your children to be able to interact with and work in this culture, but not be totally absorbed as most teens are? Another thing about the video: All these parents are mind numbingly weak. “My son spends all day on the computer” “I try to use parental controls” “All they do is text”. Who bought their computer?! Who pays the electric bill?! Who pays for the phone and phone bill?! What a cop out as parents.

I have asked the same questions you do – our kids certainly aren’t computer whizzes yet, because we don’t allow them to get on the internet very much. But it does seem that at some point you have to let them learn how to function in the world we inhabit, how to use technology in a Christ-honoring way. I’ll let you know what I learn as we proceed…
