II Corinthians 4:16-18

What an important passage, and such fodder for prayer. Pray that those who suffer would not lose heart as their outer man is decaying; pray that the Lord would renew their inner man day by day; pray that they would see that their affliction is light and momentary; pray that they would see the eternal weight of glory that their affliction is producing for them; pray that they would believe that this eternal weight of glory is far beyond all comparison to their light and momentary afflictions; pray that they would have grace to look not at the things that are seen, but the things that are unseen; pray that they would be able to know and believe that the seen things are temporary, and the unseen things are eternal.

Let us counsel this passage, brothers and sisters; let us preach it to ourselves; let us meditate upon it and apply it to our trials. God is sovereign, wise, and good.
