Due to other commitments, I have had to close down my puzzle board shop. Hopefully one day I will be able to start making them again. If you would like to purchase a set of plans (detailed written instructions) to build the board yourself, you can send $10 to me via Paypal (email address – calebcangelosi @ gmail.com). If you don’t have Paypal, you can mail me a check – please let me know through the comment section.
If you like working jigsaw puzzles, then you would love what I just made. It’s a table top puzzle board with four drawers. Not only does it give you a portable surface on which to build your puzzle (nice if you want to work on your puzzle in various locations, or if you work on puzzles on the dining room table – which might often be needed), but the four drawers essentially double your space, and allow you to group pieces by color, section, etc. I saw it at a nursing home in St. Louis, and immediately wanted to make one. So I snapped some pictures with my Iphone. On our vacation a couple of weeks ago, I began working on a 1000 piece puzzle. So when we came home, I got to work. I wanted one that would fit a 3000 piece puzzle I have of Raphael’s painting The School of Athens. The puzzle is nearly 3’x4′ (!!!), so I knew I had to make my board that big. The drawers are about 16″x26″. I made it out of hardwood plywood and some Katrina oak I still have from a tree Hurricane Katrina knocked down back in ’05. Even though I’m biased as the designer/builder, this puzzle board is incredible. It’s huge (takes up about half our dining room table), and certainly fits all the pieces of a 1000 piece puzzle with ease (I’m a bit nervous about the 3000 piece puzzle; it will be tight, but I couldn’t make the board any bigger). Since it’s so big, it’s a bit heavy, and it’s too big to pass through my doorways, which is a downside (I can’t move it upstairs and downstairs); but like I said, I want to do that 3000 piece puzzle that I’ve had for the past 12 or so years (!).
I currently make a 24″x36″ board and a 28″x36″ board.
Here are two pictures of the 3”x4′ board, not the best but you get the idea.
Here are some pictures of a smaller (2’x3′) board:
Anyway, if you’d like one for yourself or a friend, you can buy them here (24×36) or here (28×36).

The Farmer

That’s a pretty awesome board! And “The School of Athens” is one of my favorite paintings. Should be a fun one to put together!

Hi–
I love this. We sell made in America wooden puzzles(among other things) and would love to have a puzzle board that is also made in America. I have a small shop in Denver and would love to carry your puzzle boards. I don’t know if you would be interested but we would probably start with 10 or 12 of them.
Please contact me at Modern Bungalow 303-300-3332 or kate@ModernBungalow.com.
Thanks!

Dear Celab,
It is beautiful! I was laid off six month ago. Beside looking for work I have keep myself busy with prayer and buried blueprint puzzles which I have been working on with my son. It is something that I feel can bring families closer together. I am a single mother so I have alway been close with my family.( My son is in 26 year old and the puzzles has brought us all closer. His girlfriend and friends come over and we all sit and TALK as we enjoy learning some biblical history).f I believe your board is a great gift for everyone and especially ones with children for a weekly family night project . The board can be moved from the table without misplacing any piece. It is juat wonderfull!
I would like to know what the price would be to purchase the plans?
Please let me know.
With best regards,
Lisa

I saw your board on Etsy on thought it’s such a beautiful piece of wood. If I were purchasing this it would be for a totally different use. I am wondering the depth of the drawers. I don’t need them to be very deep but deeper than the depth of a puzzle piece. I look forward to your reply. Thank you.

I would love to order one of your puzzle boards. I tried finding your Esty shop, but was not successful. I’d like a board approximately 21″x 29″. Please let me know how I can get more information.

I see that your blog now says you aren’t making the puzzle boards anymore–but I would REALLY REALLY like one. Do you still have any to sell? I just visited a friend in Illinois this weekend and she had one. I know my Mom would LOVE one of these for Christmas. Any possible way you could consider making one for me?

Ah! I just love this board! I know you said you’ve closed down your shop…. want to open it back up just this once? Please! I would pay generously for the large board you show in the picture with the addition of a ridge around the top to prevent pieces from falling off. PLEASE let me know, you’d be helping to make someone’s Christmas extra special!
Posted by calebcangelosi on November 28, 2017 at 12:50 am
Jack, I’m so sorry, there is no way that I can make these again. I don’t have the time right now. And my shop isn’t really set up for this production any longer. But I have an idea that I need to check on and I’ll email you tomorrow with a possible solution. Thanks.

My husband has been in construction for years and we have just recently found a love for puzzles. He would love to start making these tables, do you recommend the business? We would love to buy a set of plans, are you still selling them? Do we still pay thru paypal: calebcangelosi@gmail.com. Thanks,
Jena
Posted by calebcangelosi on March 10, 2018 at 7:17 pm
Hi Jena, yes, I think if you have the equipment and a good source for nice oak wood, then it can work. I did find that the way I was doing it took a good while to make a board, but if your husband is in construction then I bet he can figure out how to do it more quickly/efficiently than I was. He may even have someone who can help him and reduce the time per board. My boards were so much nicer and sturdier than the ones you find in Bits and Pieces puzzle magazine, so I think that if you advertise well there is a niche market for these. I continue to get comments like yours on this post. There are people who want these boards, it would just take some good advertising on Etsy, etc. Yes, send $10 to that email through Paypal and I’ll email you the plans. Thanks!

Hi Jena! Were you able to create puzzle boards and sell them on Etsy? I’ve been searching for one and was curious about buying from a small business vs Amazon.
Thanks!

Posted by calebcangelosi on December 22, 2018 at 11:52 pm
I haven’t shipped them in awhile, but I’m thinking about 30-40 pounds. It cost about $75 to ship within the US, and that was 6-7 years ago.
