John Lafayette Girardeau’s Gospel Catechism

I’ve adapted a catechism written by John Lafayette Girardeau, a 19th century Southern Presbyterian pastor and theologian, for use among families and churches. It is a simple catechism that beautifully speaks forth the gospel. Interspersed throughout the catechism are songs that express the gospel truths on which the previous questions have focused. The entire catechism and songs can be worked through in 30 minutes to an hour, or you can work slowly through it during family worship. So much of each question is usually repeated in the answer, that even young children who haven’t begun to read can participate.

This version of the catechism enables you to print an actual booklet on two sides; while this version contains the questions in the proper order.
