With William Plumer in Romans, Day 10 – Morning

Romans 1:5
NAS – …through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles for His name’s sake…
KJV – …By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:

“Missions ought to find favor with all converted men, v. 5. The man, who has no desire to see all nations brought to a saving acquaintance with Christ, does not love either Christ or his neighbor. Scott: ‘The end of the gospel-ministry is to bring sinners, of all nations, to obey the commands of God, by believing in his Son, and submitting to his authority; that his name may be glorified in their salvation, and that they may become a peculiar people to shew forth his praise.’ Men must know and believe the truth. There is no way by which Christ may receive his promised reward but by the wide propagation and hearty reception of his gospel. Isaiah 49:6; 53:10-12.” (Romans, 43)
