With William Plumer in Romans, Day 32

Romans 1:18-19
NAS – For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them.
KJV – For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; 19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

Morning

“Wicked as men are, and wild as is the confusion that sometimes seems to reign in human affairs, God still governs the world, and will sway his sceptre over it to the consummation, v. 18, 19. And although time is not the part of duration, nor earth the theatre, where and when full justice is displayed; yet enough is done to enable a wise man to see that if these things be done in the green tree, that which shall be done in the dry will be very terrible.” (Romans, 75)

Evening

“Nor should godly men ever find fault with the dealings of the Lord with them in the way of chastisement, for the best of men are but men at best, and in many things we all offend. Judgment may be expected to begin with the house of God. Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins? Shall we, who deserve no favor, receive good at the hand of the Lord, and shall we, who deserve all disfavor, not receive evil also? Job 2:10; Lamentations 3:39; I Peter 4:17. Sin must be punished, will be punished.”
